Los Angeles is a food-lover's paradise. You can find great food in all budgets.. from swanky expensive gourmet restaurants to your neighborhood ethnic eatery.
There are hundreds of great places to eat in LA. This site introduces you
to a few standard favourites, but that shouldn't stop you from exploring.
As long as you don't happen to be right next to a popular tourist haunt,
take a look around, see where the locals are headed, and follow them. Don't explore restaurants near popular tourist attractions, though. They tend to be overpriced.
Wonderful restaurants are
spread all over LA, but if you're looking for choice, visit either
Westwood Village or the Fairfax district.
Westwood Village is home to a large percentage of UCLA's student
body, and is filled with great places to eat. Most restaurants are,
predictably, filled with hungry students. Westwood Village is a
predominantly pedestrian neighborhood. Cafes have tables on the sidewalk,
allowing you to soak in the LA sun with your meal. It's also home to the
Mann Bruin and the Fox, popular movie premiere locales. Restaurants offer
varied fare - everything from Burger King to the upscale Eurochow.
The Fairfax
District is LA's traditionally Jewish district and is also a great
place to find food. Visit the Farmer's Market on Fairfax to find
reasonable food from varied cuisines. "Little Ethiopia" is a row
of Ethiopian restaurants on Fairfax which offer spicy Ethiopian cuisine.
The Grove and the Beverly Center also offer food choices.
If you're just hungry for a
cheap and dependable meal, a number of food chains have locations all over
the city:
-
Subway offers subway
sandwiches
-
El Pollo Loco offers
chicken with a choice of sides
-
Panda Express serves
dependable Chinese
-
The ubiquitous Taco
Bell offers tacos and burritos
-
If you find a Krispy
Kreme (they're usually off the tourist track), do stop for their
fresh, hot doughnuts. They're incredible.
